News & Announcements

Medical Needs

In collaboration with Upshur County Schools, Community Care of West Virginia is committed to helping to address the immediate, medical needs and concerns of our students during this time when school based health clinics are not open. If parents have issues or concerns that might warrant immediate medical attention, they should contact Dr. Debra Harrison at 304 871 6353 who will be able to direct your concerns immediately to CCWV for follow up attention.

Breakfast and Lunch Update

Due to food supply delivery issues, Upshur County Schools will deliver meals on Thursday, March 26 rather than, as previously announced, Wednesday, March 25. Unfortunately, due to these issues, food will be made available through bus delivery only. Curb side pick up has to be discontinued for the present time. Food can be picked up at any bus stop location. If you are unsure of a bus stop near you, please call the Upshur County Transportation Department at 304-472-1544. Buses will leave BUHS, BUMS and BAES at 10:00am on Thursday. Thank you for your patience and support!

March 23

Buses will be running their routes starting at 10:00 a.m. from BAES, BUMS, BUHS and delivering TWO breakfasts and TWO lunches.

Curbside service will also be available at our school from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.!

See you tomorrow!!!

March 21 Update

Hello All,

I hope this finds our Hodgesville Families safe and healthy! We miss all of our students and families!

Teachers and staff have worked diligently this week to provide our families with breakfast and lunch and learning materials! We loved seeing all of you and the smiling faces of our students!

All families should have learning materials for their child (or have been contacted about picking them up on Monday). We loaned devices to those who requested them! If you have not received the learning at a distance packet or you need a device, please contact us!

Teachers have attempted to provide tasks to keep students learning at home, but also to not overwhelm our families! If at any time, you have questions please reach out to your child's teacher or to me! We will do all we can to assist you!

Internet - If you have borrowed a school device and need internet --- if you park in the school parking lot, the device should connect to our wi-fi so your child can complete online tasks. Please remind your child the device is for school work and they are responsible for its' safekeeping.

Keep sending pictures of your child reading!! We love them!! A new challenge will be coming out next week!

The following was shared with me and I think it has very valid points!!!

Dear Parents,
You might be inclined to create a minute by minute schedule for your kids! But here's the thing:
Kids are just as scared as we are right now
Kids are hearing everything that is going on around them and they feel our tension and anxiety
Kids (or us) have never experienced anything like this before
Time off from school sounds fun...but the reality is it's not like summer break!

During the coming weeks you will probably see in increase in behavior issues. Anxiety, anger, protest that things aren't normal will happen.
You will probably see more meltdowns, tantrums, and oppositional behaviors
This IS NORMAL and to be expected under the circumstances

Right now kids need:
to feel comforted and loved
to feel like it's all going to be okay
more love from their adults
Take a few minutes to:
go for a walk
play outside
bake cookies
paint pictures
play board games
watch movies
do a science experiment
find virtual field trips
start a book and read together
snuggle under warm blankets
Take time to enjoy one anther and make the most of a difficult situation!!!

Please reach out to us if you need any assistance! Our teachers will be contacting you and your child at a minimum of 3x weekly! We look forward to working with you on this new adventure!!

Also.....please remember information regarding meal service can change at any moment! Watch social media, email and our website for updated information!
